At the Charlotte Community Foundation’s 2016 Grants Reception, held on September 22 at the Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club, $50,000 in grants were awarded to nine nonprofits located across Charlotte County.

“The Charlotte Community Foundation is pleased to celebrate the generosity and foresight of donors who contributed to our Community Fund in support of these deserving local nonprofits,” said Mary Byrski, Foundation board chair. “Our Community Fund allows the Foundation to decide how best to respond to the most pressing needs in Charlotte County now and in the future — needs that often could never have been envisioned when a donor’s initial gift is made.”

Grants were awarded to the following nonprofits:

  • AMIKids Crossroads – to construct a railing for an ADA compliant ramp for their dining hall
  • Boys and Girls Club of Charlotte County – for vertical aeroponic plant growing systems to enhance their Tower Garden program
  • Charlotte County Homeless Coalition – for an upgraded wi-fi configuration and tablets to be used by residents
  • Charlotte Technical Center – to assist high school dual enrolled students with program equipment expenses
  • Englewood Community Care Clinic – for an ECG machine and ultrasound machine
