- Q: How can I get my story in HARBOR STYLE Magazine?
- A: Story suggestions should be sent to our editorial staff at editorial@harborstyle.com. The more information and details provided, the better. Remember the 5 W's: who, what, when, where and why. All suggestions will be reviewed and, when appropriate, added to our ongoing list of story ideas. We cannot guarantee that a story idea will be turned into a published story, but we welcome any and all suggestions. It is important to note that our editorial staff works months in advance of the date of publication. All editorial content is written and submitted for review 8 weeks before the month of publication. As such, it is important to submit story ideas sooner rather than later, especially ones that correspond with particular events (i.e. holiday celebrations or charity galas).
- Q: Will a story about me or my business get published if I run an ad?
- A: While we make every effort to include our advertisers in the magazine's content, buying an ad does not guarantee that you or your business will be featured in a story. When assigning stories to our talented staff of writers, we will include our advertisers as resources or focus on particular businesses when applicable to the story concept. Aside from feature stories, we have several running departments that often include news and information about our advertisers. Of particular note is the HARBOR STYLE Showcase, a department created for the sole purpose of showing off our advertisers and the fabulous products and services they offer. We also have the Kudos, Freeze-frame and Calendar departments to highlight jobs well done and events around town.
- Q: Does HARBOR STYLE have a policy regarding copies and/or reproduction of articles or photos?
- A: HARBOR STYLE and all of its contents are protected by U.S. copyright law. No part of our magazine may be reprinted in any format without prior express consent from the publisher.
- Q: How might I join the HARBOR STYLE staff as either a writer or a photographer?
- A: All of our writers and photographers work on a freelance basis. While we have a dedicated group of freelance writers and photographers, we are always looking for new talent. If you are interested in writing or taking photos for HARBOR STYLE, please contact the editorial staff at editorial@harborstyle.com and include some samples of your previous work.
- Q: How can I get my organization's event included in the HARBOR STYLE calendar?
- A: We gladly welcome submissions for our monthly events calendar. Please send all event details to editorial@harborstyle.com and be sure to include a contact email or number in case we have any questions or need additional information. It is important to remember that our editorial staff works well in advance of the month of publication. The absolute latest we can accept calendar submissions is 4 weeks prior to the month the event occurs, but at that point, we cannot guarantee that there will be space remaining in the calendar.
- Q: I love looking at the pictures in your Freeze-frame department. Will HARBOR STYLE come out and take some pictures my organization's event?
- A: Freeze-frame is one of our favorite departments as it allows us to show off all the fun events that go on in our community. If your organization is having a special event or gala and you would like us to come and take pictures, please contact our editorial staff at editorial@harborstyle.com. As Charlotte County has a fairly busy events schedule, particularly during season, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to include your event in our Freeze-frame section. But we do make every effort to include a wide variety of events across the social and charity realm, and in many cases, both at the same time!
