Welcome to our Charity Register!
Dear Readers:
First, a word about that title. This issue is about much more than charity. It’s about life in early 21st Century Charlotte County. Within these pages, you’ll find features that spotlight organizations you may or may not have heard of, how they came into being and what they’re doing to make our community a better place .
Charity is a really big blanket under which we all find some type of shelter, some type of comfort…of happiness. For some, supporting community icons like the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, now celebrating its 30th anniversary year, is their chosen passion and purpose. For others, charity takes on the persona of hammer, nails and lumber through Habitat for Humanity. Both organizations share their stories this month.
We’re dedicating an entire issue to the charity theme because, in a very real sense, the subject is that large. It’s a real fact that much can be learned from a culture or society by how that culture treats the most disadvantaged among them.
Here, in this very special issue, you’ll see a scorecard of how well we as a community,
a culture, if you will,You must be the change you want to see in the world.
- Mahatma Gandhi are treating the most disenfranchised among us. You’ll find a listing
of area nonprofit organizations who need your
help this year…starting now. Perhaps you’ve been
considering getting more involved with an effort you’re passionate about. Put it off no
longer. Here, starting on page 54, you’ll learn a bit about each organization’s mission
and structure along with their volunteer opportunities and events that are awaiting your
talents. So get involved and make a difference!
Everyone has been talking about changing the world. It really gets changed one person at a time. Be that change.
Enjoy our December issue!
Please enjoy our holiday issue!
Sincerely,
