¡Buen provecho! Bon appétit! Guten appetit!
Dear Readers:
Every city and regional magazine in existence has one, a special issue marked “Best Of,” and truth be told, we would like to have one also. The thing is, our sister publication, the Charlotte SUN, already has a “Best of Charlotte” reader’s choice poll that pretty much covers all those things we would cover if we had a reader’s choice poll. So why reinvent the wheel? The best pizza in the SUN would more than likely be the best pizza in HARBOR STYLE.
So why do that?
Instead, our editors decided to take another path. They sat down and thought, “What makes Charlotte County extraordinary? What makes it such a great place to live? What makes us stand out from our neighbors?”
They talked about the Blanchard House Museum, where the history of Punta Gorda’s black community comes alive, Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center, an organization dedicated to preserving southwest Florida’s natural beauty and wildlife, and the Military Heritage and Aviation Museum, a place where we can honor and remember those who have served our country. They spoke of the organizations in this county that are doing what they can to help those who have become victims of our nation’s current economic situation. The places in this magazine are uniquely ours to experience, cherish, celebrate and support.
And to me, that’s creating a “Best Of” issue that does more than help sell ads. It sells community and community spirit, the kind that lives and breathes life into Charlotte County all year long. That’s why we, like you, love living here.
Please enjoy!
Sincerely,

Jimmy Dean, Publisher
